Peaceful Ease: Chamomile

To my delight, a few days ago I found some young chamomile plants blooming in our garden. German chamomile is a self-seeding annual. The ones that started early in spring are bloomed out and dying back. So this was quite a treat. I stopped and felt the rush of my day melt as I stood looking at the tiny white daisy-like flowers.

As the weather is changing and my body wants to slow down, I find the busyness of the late summer/early fall season challenging to handle. I’ve been drinking more chamomile tea to calm my nervous system and help me sleep. Chamomile herb is also used internally for digestive problems and irritability. Externally, a chamomile salve can be applied to itchy skin, eczema, insect bites and stings, or diaper rash. Also, chamomile tea or diluted tincture can be used as an eyewash for conjunctivitis or eye strain.

The last few days, I’ve been drawn again to the chamomile flower essence. It is helping me to slow down, feel myself and make quiet time.

ChamomileOn the flower essence level, German Chamomile (Matricaria recutita) says this about itself:

Cultivates peaceful centeredness while resting in the heart of The-Divine-In-All.

I AM calm, peaceful centeredness in the All.
