Spring into Action!
It’s Spring!! Flower and trees are budding and ready to burst into bloom. Have you noticed ideas budding in your mind, too? The next step is developing plans for action. If you are like me, ideas are easy. Developing doable plans is more challenging. I often want to skip from ideas to action without thinking through the steps it will take to actually allow the ideas to bloom.

Red Huckleberry Flower Essence
Red Huckleberry is a US Pacific Northwest native shrub with tiny greenish-yellow bell shaped flowers that form red “blueberries.” They often grow in the rich soil of decaying wood or woody stumps. Red Huckleberries were a main food staple of many indigenous peoples, and were used as fish bait. Herbally, the leaves and bark were simmered to prepare a gargle for sore throats and inflamed gums.

Dandelion Flower Essence
Dandelion grows just about everywhere in the world. Even though many people regard dandelion as a weed, it is one of the most valuable medicinal herbs. Dandelion root is a very effective detoxifying herb. It works primarily in the liver and gallbladder to remove wastes from infection or pollution, that can become toxic if they build-up, and stimulates the kidneys to eliminate the waste. In spring, the flower can be made into dandelion wine and the greens can be eaten fresh in a salad or cooked. Wood Element: Spring
Wood is representative of all of the elements. Trees connect Heaven and Earth and are a metaphor for the human body-mind-spirit connection. (The trees here are amazing! Over 100 foot tall cedar, firs and alders!) They bring rain, take up water, collect the warmth of the sun then give us oxygen to breath and firewood to warm our homes. Its color is green since the wood element illustrates the pushing upward of new growth as plants awaken into the rebirth of spring. In humans, the wood element helps us sprout ideas, grow plans, and bloom into action. If that process is thwarted, anger may burst forth or fester inside.
