Elemental Grief
Last weekend I taught the 3rd class of the Flower Essence Practitioner Training Course. The class focused primarily on the Chinese Five Element understanding of health as expressed through the organ meridians and related systems. Keeping to the theme for this season, fall is related to the metal element and grief. Large Intestine is the pair to Lung, which was featured last time.
One of the more fascinating organ systems is Triple Burner of the Fire Element. It works primarily through the endocrine system and regulates all of the other organs. There is interplay between all of the elements. Fire suppresses or controls metal. That means it overcomes or weakens it. Physically, overactive fire can cause symptoms like a cough in the lungs or constipation in the large intestine. When fire reacts to change, it’s usual emotion of joy can morph into grief. So if your endocrine system is out of balance, don’t be surprised if a challenging change brings up grief. Metal controls the Wood Element, whose emotion is anger. So if you are experiencing grief, don’t be surprised if anger arises. All of these emotions can be shifted to a higher level of functioning by changing your emotional metabolism.

Spotted Coral Root Flower Essence
Spotted Coral Root Orchid is native to the Pacific Coastal region of North America. It grows in the rich humus of moist to dry coniferous or mixed forests at low to middle elevations. Spotted coral root has a pink to reddish purple color and a white lip with magenta spots. It is saprophytic, which means that it doesn’t have chlorophyll to make its own food. Instead it derives nutrients from decaying organic matter and contributes to decomposition and recycling of organic material.
On the flower essence level, Spotted Coral Root Essence works via the quantum field of energy information and the energy circuits throughout the body that relate to hormonal and biochemical shifts. It treats the changing biochemistry as fuel, much like geothermal or biomass energy. Burdock Flower Essence
Burdock is a biennial herb originally found in Europe and China that now grows in most temperate regions around the world. Burdock is rich in chromium, iron, magnesium, silicon and vitamin B1. Stalks and leaves can be harvested in spring and early summer. Roots are harvested in fall of the first year and can be eaten fresh during the winter months or dried for tea. Medicinally, burdock root is widely used as a blood purifier to cleanse and eliminate toxins, including heavy metals. It relieves skin problems, sluggish digestion, and arthritis. The seeds are in round pods with burrs that stick to everything. This was the inspiration for Velcro.
On the essence level, use burdock when you are caught up in deep old anger, especially if the anger is directed at someone, usually an authority figure. Although the anger may be triggered by a current person/situation, the origin for this quality of anger is from a wound earlier in this life or a past life. This anger may also be related to an experience of grief or loss. Physical symptoms may include arthritis; skin issues like eczema, shingles and boils; or toxicity – including heavy metals – in the liver, gallbladder, large intestine, or blood. Burdock Flower Essences supports the energetic process of “unraveling” the bonds between anger and heavy metals, which allows the body to release both the anger and the metals. Metal Element (Air): Fall Large Intestine Organ Energy Meridian Essence Blend
The season of the metal element is fall and the colors are white/grey. The yang meridian of the metal element is large intestine. It is most active from 5am to 7am. The job of the large intestine is final sorting and elimination of what is no longer useful on any level – physical body, emotions or attitudes.

Tripe Burner Organ Energy Meridian Essence Blend
There is no physical organ for the Triple Burner system, AKA Triple Warmer, Triple Heater, Umbilicus. It relates to all of the organs and controls relationships between them largely through the endocrine glands and hormonal distribution systems. It is the heating system of the body/mind/spirit.
