Open Creative Heart
Flowers are in full bloom displaying their amazing creativity. Gardens and forests are bursting into tapestries of myriad colors, shapes and textures. The featured essence this month is Spirea, one of the primary essences in the Pericardium Heart OEM Blend. John and I planted the spirea along the boundary of our property along a quiet country road about four years ago. Deer browse on it, so John put leftover wire fencing around the area to protect the young tender plants. Last summer the spirea was ready to essence. I went out thinking I could easily pull off the wire protection. To my amazement and dismay, I found that it was a hodgepodge of different kinds of fencing with salmonberry, red-osier dogwoods and other plants growing through it. In short, I couldn’t pull it off. I had to get wire cutters, grunt loudly while squeezing and twisting the cutters to break enough wire to pull the fencing from around the spirea plants. It took almost an hour. I placed the bottles and crystals and started the essence process. When I sat down to write, the first thing that came through was “Pull down the protections around your heart.” Should have known!!
Spirea Flower Essence
Spirea, commonly known as hardhack, is native to the western North American. It grows in sunny to partly shady moist soil, especially around the edges of streams and marshes. It spreads by runner roots and in a good location can grow into a nearly impenetrable thicket that is wonderful for wetland nesting birds. Bees also love the long clusters of pinkish-purple fuzzy flowers. Its leaves are long and somewhat egg-shaped and are a host to butterfly larvae.
On the flower essence level, Spirea invites you to let down your guard, to pull down the protections around your heart. Fire Element: Summer
