Beautiful Blue & Green Earth!
I’ve been overwhelmed with the outpouring of conscientious action since President Trump and his administration began initiating radical policies. For a long time many people and organizations have been working diligently for the well-being of our beautiful Earth and all of us who live here. A few of the organizations are ACLU, Natural Resources Defense Council, Earth Justice, Sierra Club and Yes! Magazine. Now more of us are becoming involved. New people are stepping forward into action.
What can you do? You could go to Washington DC for a national protest rally or to talk directly with your Congressperson. You can work locally for water protection, to stop a pipeline, for the rights of homeless people, for voting reform or to stop military EMF/ELF transmitters from being installed in a pristine wilderness area. You can make phone calls to your elected officials, volunteer at a food bank or treat a Muslim person like anyone else, a person. You could become a “keyboard warrior” taking action through social media and email. You could find ways to use less fossil fuel, like driving less, installing solar panels or switching to glass reusable food storage containers. You could stop buying products with palm oil sourced from plantations that are destroying rainforests, you could plant trees in your yard or grow a vegetable garden.
Action is very much needed. Still in my experience our internal state is equally as important, if not more so, than action. To take action while expressing anger or fear can escalate conflict and disrupt the flow of energy toward change. It can make you bitter and resentful eventually affecting your health. That is why Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the water protectors at Standing Rock insisted on peaceful resistance.
