Generational trauma may rise more to the surface of your awareness during this time of being less active. Some people are going back to work and some businesses and activities are opening up, still, this quieter time offers a wonderful opportunity for healing and manifesting what you want in your life.
There are many faces to generational trauma – alcoholism, drug abuse, low self-esteem, attitudes that keep you from thriving, injustices and racism to ancestors that are still happening today, violence in your home and/or community, to name a few.
I’ve been deeply moved by people standing in peaceful solidarity, protesting injustice and systemic racism that has plagued the black community and other communities of color for many generations. In a few places, like Flint Michigan, NY City, Fort Worth, and Houston Texas, police knelt with the protesters. (See the goodnewsnetwork.org article below.) I grew up with alcoholism and abuse. The genetic lineage came from both my English and Irish ancestry. My great-grandmother on my father’s side was an alcoholic. There was always a bottle of Jack Daniels nearby. Her daughter, my father’s mother, was enabling and married a series of alcoholic men. My father was a dry alcoholic with other forms of addiction. I was much affected. In my 20’s I was married to an alcoholic. I had other forms of addiction that played out in my 20’s and 30’s. My spiritual teacher was an alcoholic and had other addictions. It took me over 10 years to recognize his addictions and accept the replay of my childhood. Gratefully I’ve been done with acting out my early trauma for many years. I broke the family pattern by not having children and by focusing on healing myself and my family lineage. In my 40’s I discovered flower essences. Since then they have been a strong ally in my continuing healing process.
Trauma affects brain functioning. It makes being rooted and secure in yourself very challenging. And it can thwart your ability to manifest your potential. The essences that I’m offering this newsletter cycle have been tremendously helpful for me, clients, and customers to shift from living generational trauma to creating the life we want to live.
